About Petey

Petey Camarillo is a graphic designer and cinematographer.  She has developed programming materials, posters, presentations, and videos for various consulting groups and educational institutions. For several years, she has also worked as an academic advisor, coach, and mentor for students all over the country. 
 
While completing her Bachelors Degree in Teledramatic Arts & Technology, Petey worked as a mentor and advisor for first-generation and low-income students.  In these roles, she learned the importance of generating trust, empathy, and understanding in order to break down barriers and connect with students.  After completing her BA, she followed her passion for student support and pursued a Masters Degree in Educational Leadership. She wrote her Masters thesis on the transformative experiences of Latina college graduates and identity development as it relates to higher education.
 
Petey currently lives in San Diego and works for the San Diego Community College District in the Office of Institutional Research & Planning.
