Sonya Tonoco

Sonya Tinoco is a Graduate Program Advisor at Fielding Graduate University, where she provides academic program advising and support to students in the Clinical Psychology Ph.D. and Respecialization certificate programs. In addition to her role as Graduate Program Advisor, Sonya is also the vice chair of Fielding’s Staff Council and a member of Fielding’s Inclusion Council. Those two groups serve in an advisory capacity to the University Leadership Team in matters pertaining to staff as well as issues related to diversity, equity, and inclusion. Outside of Fielding, Sonya also serves as a member of an advisory board for an organization dedicated to advancing policy around issues facing millennials.
Sonya holds a Master’s degree in Clinical Psychology and is a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. She has worked with many local community agencies providing direct care service via individual, family, and group therapy to children and adults through behavioral change modalities such as dialectic behavioral therapy and cognitive behavioral therapy. As a group facilitator, Sonya has researched educational information and implemented group curriculum aimed at improving emotional regulation and stress tolerance, healthy relationships, and increasing overall functioning. |
